The C.M.H. has recorded the official history of the Army and advised the Army Staff. It has been expanding its roles in military history education and management of the more than 100 Army, Reserve, and National Guard museums. In addition to producing the 78 volumes of the official history of the Army in WW2, the 50th anniversary activities have prompted the reprinting of siginificant historical works on that war, and the production of short pamplets on each of the Armys WW2 campaigns. Publications of particular interest to wargamers are the Guide to U.S. Army Museums, Publications of the U.S. Army Center of Military History, and the Readers Guide: U.S. Army in World War II. The Centers art and documents collections, library facilities, and reference services are open to private researchers, and advice is available from the professional staff. Call the CMH Operations Officer at (202) 504-5403 for information.
