I sat down to write this editorial in the midst of preparation for a party celebrating the 25th anniversary of my wargame group, theOld Colony Wargamers. Bob Beattie introduced me to historical miniatures gaming with Column Line and Square in the summer of 1968. Within a few months, the scope of interest expanded to a point where we organized the New England Wargamers Asso.--never mind it had only two members--but it was a start. Differences splintered the group, with OCW being the only organized group to trace its roots back to 1968. I made an attemptto locate all former members with the idea of inviting them to a wargame day/party...I gave it up after reaching 425 names and more to go! To think how one small organization helped forma nd spread news of the hobby. I hope our contributions made a positive difference. The Courier started as a newsletter of teh NEWA in early 1969--Summer 1994 is the 25th anniversary issue. The Courier has seen several changes in format and even a short-lived change in ownership over those years, but has always endeavored to bring you the latest and best thinking of your fellow gamers in the attempt to improve your enjoyment of the hobby. I'm going to make a damn stab at doing it the next 25 years!
