CHANGES, CHANGES

Unless you are still under the influence of holiday cheer, you will note some changes to The Courier with this issue. The new Logo is a photo of figures commissioned to Joel Haas and painted by Joe Miceli (Our Art Director and Master Painter). The new Type is an attempt to modernize The Courier (it HAS been in publication since 1968 with the same type face).

This is the first of many changes that we will effect in the look of the magazine without in any way affecting its content. Some of the future changes will be somewhat experimental, and in no way final, in that we have to learn what pleases the customer and move with the times. So it is imperative that you let us know in no uncertain terms what you like and dislike about the changes in particular and The Courier in general.

THE COURIER NEEDS ARTICLES

It seems that with each editorial or late I issue a plea for articles. The Courier is written, for the most part, by the readers not professional writers. Some may feel that their material may not meet our requirements! It has been my experience that the gamer just trying to impart his love for the hobby and his experiences in it provide much more useful material than do those writing to be paid for it. That is why The Courier consciously does not pay for articles beyond adding a copy to your sub (or sending you a free copy if not a subscriber) for each article accepted. Even this is a new policy in the last few issues.

We need Sapper's Reports (how to articles); Battle reports (descriptions of games showing interesting tactics, scenarios, ability of a rule set to simulate history, etc.); Scenarios, both historical and what-if battles; Uniform and organizational info on various armies. I have a special need for the period 1700 to 1900. Send a Self addressed envelope (SAE) for the Author's Guidelines.

CADILLAC WARGAME TABLES

In the back of this issue you will find the announcement of the winner of the Cadillac Gaming Table Award. Our thanks to all those who participated. Every table presented, even if they didn't win, offered many ideas for the gamer building his own. I hope that though the contest is over, you will continue to send in your table and storage ideas so that your fellow gamers can benefit.
