VERSATILE TABLE KEEPS THE FAMILY HAPPY
by David Rabin and Paul Zieske

The dimensions of the table's playing surface are 6'x 1O' which are similar to tables typically used at gaming conventions. This size makes it easier to play the same scenarios at or away. Horizontal boards are mounted under the table to keep rules, rulers. dice, drinks, etc. off of the playing surface. Round holes are made in the boards to hold cups and glasses using a drill-mounted hole saw.

The wargaming table is actually two separate 3x10' tables placed side by table can also be used for social occasions (dining, parties, etc.) when the smaller size is more appropriate, and this makes them popular with the wargamer's wife. Up to 12 people can be seated at each table. The horizontal boards (for rules and drinks) are easily removed when the tables are used for entertainment by unscrewing the bolts which attach them to the tables through holes in the tabletop and 2 1/2" metal corner braces attached to the 6" long vertical supports (2"x 4"). The tables are made from 3/8" plywood to be lightweight and fastened to framing of 2"x2" and 2"x4" wood using drywall screws. Metal mending plates are placed at the corners and joints for additional sturdiness. The legs are standard folding banquet table legs which are available at hardware stores for about $12 per pair. This table should be a winner with family and friends because of its size, utility, and versatility.

This "Cadillac Wargaming Table" contest terminates when we have 6 entrants. Come On! Some of you out there have a great table, table idea or storage facility that must be shared. Get into this contest!
