This column is not intended to cover all simulations that are on the market. It reflects efforts from some less well known individuals and companies and touches on some o f the in teresting games that space limited us from fully reviewing. Le Jeu d e La Guerre is available from Games Innovation, 1884 So. Leyden Street, Denver, Colorado, 80222. Priced at $3. This is a set of tactical rules for Napoleonic miniatures. One receives a comprehensive set of bound rules, a set of NavWar decimal dice, two rule and chart summary tables, a CRT, a set of combat efficiency report sheets, and a subscription for three issues (two have appeared) of "La Guerre supplement," a mimeo magazine dealing with "new techniques, devices, and problems" related to the game. This simulation is not for beginners, as it tries to cover all tactical possibilities and includes "several new concepts and tools including. .. logarithmic calculators, random number generators, variable terrain effect, combat intention, 'hidden' combat efficiency, and new research.... " A bibliography is included which is a tremendous help. There were no delays in delivery. Richthofen's War, the Air War 1916-1918 is available from the Avalon Hill Company, 4517 Harford Road, Baltimore, Maryland, 21214. Priced at $8.95. This is a World War One tactical level air wargame dealing mostly with the Western Front. It is attractively boxed in the book-case format and includes a set of rules, a mission briefing manual, an unrealistic though colorfully mounted hex board, good looking die cut pieces including special Red Baron plane counters, and aircraft status pad, scenario cards, and two dice. This simulation can be played by the beginner or fanatic alike and includes a campaign version. It is a simulation that is open ended, i.e. can be expanded to any size of campaign. Mechanics similar to Flying Circus (S&T game). Hannibal, 2nd edition, is available from Histo Games, 34 Sharon Street, Brooklyn, New York, 11211. Priced at $7.00. This is a strategic semi-area movement simulation. One receives a rule sheet, a mounted three color, large hexagon board, round die-cut pieces representing cavalry, infantry, and galleys, a CRT, one die, and victory point-and-time chart. This is not your standard fare. It is a relatively simple but unusual game. It has been around for several years. 1944 is also by Histo Games. It is priced at $5.00. This is a strategic game dealing with the Invasion of France and the Battle for Germany. You receive some excellent die cut pieces of corps end divisional level, a rule sheet, an optional rule and tips sheet, an Appearance chart (includes set-up for 1942 and 1943 game), a CRT, and a four color map (unmounted). This game has monthly moves and unlimited behind-the-lines movement, in addition to some other interesting ideas. Last turn is March of 1945.
