From the Cap and Sarge

Editorial

We are very excited about publishing Combat Simulation. It will allow many more opportunities for communications between us and all of you who are interested in World War II and military simulations. We will also be able to provide gamers with articles and information on small unit actions that are not readily available.

One of the best things about this hobby, in fact probably the best, is the people. For years, Mike and I have commented to each other about the great bunch of people we have met. Since publishing Battalions In Crisis!, we have traveled to many parts of the country. Wherever we go people are friendly, helpful, and provide us with new insights and information. Over the summer we visited the Combat Studies Institute at Fort Leavenworth and the Patton Museum at Fort Knox to do additional research. We were graciously received and supported with information and help.

At Fort Leavenworth, Major Chuck Collins and Lieutenant Colonel Greg Hampton provided us with data and names for future research. Major Collins even gave us a personal copy of an out of print book from the Historical Study Series.

The Patton Museum at Fort Knox has an excellent technical library. Mr. Charles Lemons, the Museum Curator, and Ms. Katie Toubot, the Librarian, were very helpful. They personally located specific source materials and opened up the Colonel Ickes photo collection for our review.

We are looking forward to hearing from you, our readers. There are several ways you can communicate with fellow gamers and historians in Combat Simulation. The Gamers' Forum is open to all of you to discuss gaming issues. Those of you interested in writing historical articles, game replays, scenarios, or other articles are encouraged to do so. For information about submitting, see the Publishing Format at the front of the magazine.

We hope you enjoy the first issue of Combat Simulation. As we gain experience publishing this magazine, we will strive to constantly improve our publication. If you want something to be included, let us know.

Until next time, good luck and good gaming.
