Book Review by Paul Darnell
I have to admit when this book arrived for me to review there was an audible groan, not another book on the Zulu War. But yes, you have probably guessed what I'm about to say, the book is an extremely good one going into exact detail on all aspects of the battle. The events leading up to the action, the Zulu regiments, the battle and the after events are all covered. Recent photographs of the mission station are included a Ong with the now familiar and some not so familiar period photographs, giving the reader an overall view of what the post looks like now and then. These combined with the large colour pictures, reproductions of the various commissioned paintings over the years, should give the. final push to anyone thinking of modelling and wargaming the action. Finally as is usual for Knight--he manages to find detail that escapes all other writers, so I feel sure you will find new facts about Rorke's Drift, even if like myself, you have read every other book on the subject. It is my opinion an excellent book and my opinion is not swayed by the fact Greenhill Books are advertising herein.
