British 58th Regiment Uniforms

Mounted Officers (below left);

Dark blue patrol jackets, braided black, buff breaches, black boots, white sword belt, brown holster, pouches, field glass case etc.

Colour Ensigns (2nd Lieutenant) (below right);

Scarlet undress frock, edged white with black collar and gold braid on cuffs, white sword belt, blue trousers with red welt, black leggings and boots.

NCOs and Privates; (below)

Scarlet serge frock, black collar patches, with brass Castle badge, scarlet shoulder straps edged white with brass 58 thereon. White braid on cuffs (it is not clear whether the 58th wore black facing patches on the cuff, or whether these were left plain red); NCOs chevrons on right arm only, sergeants' gold, corporals' white. Dark blue trousers, red welt, black leggings and boots, dark grey overcoat rolled on back with dark blue glengarry, with brass badge. All equipment straps are buff leather, stained brown with tea, coffee etc.
