Colonial wargaming has up until recently had the label of 'native bashing', where the only generalship involved was to decide to defeat the Zulus or such like foe at 5.30pm, half an hour before lunch allowing plenty of time to clear the kitchen table. Thankfully though, due to the everincreasing range of figure availability and the explosion of books published over recent years and of course your own interest, colonial wargaming has established itself as a major part of the wargame scene. The magazine's aim is to cover a wide range of colonial conflicts around the globe, concentrating on Britain's 19th century campaigns. But each year the mag will include earlier periods of the 16th and 17th centuries as well as other countries' campaigns such as the French Foreign Legion. Suggestions and contributions are all most welcome, as is any information on colonial events or news. It is hoped to start up a dispatch column for such info, a snippet is included in this issue. It only remains to say, Thank you for purchasing this first edition and for those of you who have subscribed already, many thanks, I hope you will enjoy the mag and I the Editor (and everything else at present) wish you a very Merry Xmas and Prosperous New Year.
