CoE Redivivus. That's dog-Latin for "Clash of Empires coming back to life." The latter half of 1998 was a trying year for several of the CoE staff, what with a change of employ for me, and Mssr's Cassidy and Condello up to their waists in Y2K merriment. (Personally, I don't know what the fuss is all about; just change all the Y's to K's and have done with it. But I digress…) We're back. I decided to exercise my editorial judgement and therefore reduced CoE's Year of Revolution coverage, at least as far as the civic disturbances go. While I still fully intend to examine the military campaigning in Italy, Hungary and Schleswig-Holstein, the response to the Parisian Revolution was rather below expectations. In light of this, and realising that these other venues are already jostling each other for coverage in this journal, I think this decision is an apt one, at least for now. Also pushed back to next issue is the "Skirmishing Magenta" scenario suggestions; once again, what I thought would be a short, several page "filler" type article has expanded beyond it's allotted size to cover several other time-periods. Subscriber Jeff Johnson writes:
I have received several kind and supportive letters from the subscribers, but Jeff's was one of the kindest. In fact, modesty prevents me from printing the balance, as I'm certain that the rest of the staff would become concerned that my ego would never recover it's normally average proportions. Thank you Jeff, your comments are greatly appreciated. A different kind of support, but no less important, is the supply of articles that we receive from our gracious subscribers; Special thanks goes to Scotty Hansen who was able to produce a much-needed article on short notice when the "Magenta" piece got bumped. -Finis- Back to Clash of Empires No. 5/6 Table of Contents Back to Clash of Empires List of Issues Back to Master Magazine List © Copyright 1999 by Keith Frye This article appears in MagWeb (Magazine Web) on the Internet World Wide Web.
