NHMGS Congratulations

by Norris Hazelton

Congratulations are due Kevin Smyth for his great work on site selection. Dave Schueler, and I made a modest contribution, but Kevin deserves the praise. Under the circumstances, given our constraints, I think we have the best possible venue we could have chosen for Enfilade 2003. The BWEI in Fite was good for us, and I'm sure many of us will miss that location. Right now we should begin planning our events and prepare for our new location. I've been there for Soccer Fair, and its a nice facility, we should be just fine.

I am sorry I missed our Museum of Flight Gaming day. Unfortunately, I had a soccer game and a wedding that day. Evidently, things went well, another successful venture.

The game days that we are sponsoring at American Eagles need a little more support from members. We've had some really incredible games presented, but a dearth of people mean not all get played. Next time, stop in and play.

Fire & Sword Hobbies have their loft functioning as a gaming area. It's a nice facility and he has a very good selection of 25mm Foundry figures.

Remember Breakthrough 2002 is upon us and we need to plan accordingly. Steve Allen has done another great job for Breakthrough 2002. I hope to see you all up there, it's only a couple inches on the map.

Overall, I'm well pleased that we have been able to weather the loss of the BWEI and rebound so quickly. As an organization we are doing well. I would like to see us more involved in Eastern Washington. There are several good people and gaming groups in the Spokane area. We're still looking for a VP South (that is Oregon). This is a vital position in NHMGS and we need an energetic person to accept this responsibility. The Oregon gamers and groups are a very important part of the gaming community in the Pacific Northwest. We really need someone who can help us maintain communications with the Oregon gaming community.

All in all, I think NHMGS is doing just fine. Congratulations to all the GMs, members, officials, directors, adminstrators, and everyone else who has worked so hard to assure the success of our events. Thanks to a I of you for allowing me to continue the pretense that I know what I'm doing.
