Approximately 1,000,000 men presently under arms. FORCE STRUCTURE: The country is in a state of civil war and no precise structure or organization can be identified with any degree of certainty. The Taliban government has not even established a formal military budget! EQUIPMENT: There is no reliable information regarding the current holdings of the Taliban forces, or those of the "Resistance" forces under Shah Masud. However, the following equipment is known to have been in use in various quantities as of 1 June, 2001.
