The Museum of Flight in Seattle has offered to allow NHMGS to host a game day in their east gallery. The event will be on September 30 from 10 to 5. We are trying to fill 8 (6x8) tables for the day. All historical games are welcome, but because this is a museum devoted to the history of flight, preference will be given to air games. Game presenters will be allowed into the museum for free. Those who wish to play in the games but are not presenting games will pay the Museum admission of $9.50. The day will be divided into two gaming periods, one early and one later. Part of our purpose, and the Museum's interest in inviting us, is to provide an introduction to the public, i.e. Museum guests, to miniature wargaming. Interested presenters should develop games that are visually striking and easily explained and understood by a curious public. One table will be set aside to pile with sample figures and other miniatures, painting resources, and NHMGS literature. We also hope to find a "volunteer," (hint: Tim) to paint at this table so those who are interested can observe the painting process at the feet of a master. At the present time the Air Pirate group has volunteered to put on a number of games:
2. Battle of the Bulge-Paul Hannah (1 game period) 3. Fortresses over Frankfurt-Paul Hannah (1 game period) 4. Flying Tigers-Dave Sullivan and Dave Schueler (1 game period) 5. Marianas Turkey Shoot-Phil Bardsley and Kevin Smyth (2 games period) In addition, Paul, Phil, and Dave will set up the gorgeous Ploesti game they hosted at Enfilade' I as a static display. These games and the information table account for 5 of the 8 tables. We need additional games to fill the eight additional game periods that are available. If you are interested in hosting games, please e-mail Dave Schueler at daveshoe@aol.com. We also need your support in the form of attendance to play the scheduled games. While the, admission price might seem steep, remember that you are getting more than the games. Your admission buys you into a fantastic aviation museum, which you are free to wander about at your leisure. If you have any interest in aircraft, and haven't been to the Museum of Flight, you're missing out. This is a great opportunity to show off our work to the public, and get out the word about NHMGS. We hope to see you there.
