Another year, another Enfilade! gone. So we'll have to resort to enjoying our annual brief spell of good weather, then it's back to the gaming. For your up-coming amusement we will be having a game day at the Museum of Flight at the end of September - cleverly scheduled to coincide with the end of the nice weather. The Trumpeters continue their monthly gaming nights at the Bonsoor Recreation Center in Burnaby, and Breakthrough will be rolling through Marysville in November, leaving a path of destruction and misery in its wake (if we do it right). This issue highlights the gaming life on the 'other side of the mountains.' Shocking as it may seem to those of us who live west of the Cascades, there's a whole raft of things happening over in Eastern Washington and Idaho. Many thanks to Jason Bledsoe for providing an update on the status of the hobby outside the 1-5 corridor. Congratulations and best wishes to Randy Paulin, who has opened a new gaming store in Pullman called Gamers' Paradise (see article on page 4). Gamers in the Tacoma area may be interested in a new shop down there, the Game Matrix (10515 South Tacoma Way, Suite C, Lakewood). Game Matrix features in-store gaming. figures and materials. Check out their web page at www.TheGameMatrix.com. NHMGS has a new president in the person of long-time member Norris Hazelton, and a new vice-president for the central region - Steve Puffenberger. Norris and Steve weren't elected into their positions so much as they failed to get out of the way fast enough when volunteers were called for. This seems to be the pattern for becoming an officer in NHMGS - anyone crazy enough to volunteer gets the job. We have called for elections at the past two Entilades, but none have occurred because no one stood for office. I don't suppose it matters to most members, as long as someone is doing the job. But if anyone wondered why we don't have elections anymore, that's the story. Members with Internet access are encouraged to join the NHMGS list at egroups.com. This service provides a forum for members to share news, views and their concerns about NHMGS in a more timely manner than the good old Citadel (well, old at least). To join, go to http://www.egroups.com/group/nhmgs. Or just go to egroups and do a search for NHMGS. Some of you might wonder why there are no membership cards with this issue. While I usually make them up at this point, experience has taught me that we usually get membership renewals from folks who couldn't make it to Enfilade. Since I print the cards out in sheets of 10, it is both cheaper and less hassle to do them all at once. So I am going to wait until the Fall issue to send out membership cards. Finally, in the last issue, I identified Doug Hamm as the President of the Canadian Trumpeter Group. In this I was mistaken. That distinction has fallen upon Steve Allen, although I am sure he would deny it in court. Steve can be reached via email at big dog@telus.net Sorry for any confusion that may have resulted from my error.
