In a few of weeks NHMGS will take its first crack at running Breakthrough! Originally the brain-child of Ed Teixiera, Breakthrough! is in its fourth year. It was conceived as a last weekend of gaming debauchery before the holidays dominated everyone's time. I encourage all of you to come up, down, or over to Marysville. Help make Breakthrough's transition from private enterprise to NHMGS activity a success. I like to give praise where it is due, and so it is to the gentlemen on the extreme flanks of NHMGS. Regular newsletters have sprung up at both the north and south ends of NHMGS-land, and made my life much easier by providing articles (and other information) that I can steal for the Citadel. In the north (that's Canada, eh) the Trumpeter group has been putting out a very nice newsletter covering the gaming scene up in B.C. This newsletter is the brainchild of Chris Leach and Doug Hamm (Larry Leadhead himself). I urge any Canadian members not already getting this newsletter to contact these gentlemen and get on the list. At the other end of NHMGS territory is Eugene, Oregon, home of the University of Oregon. For the last couple of years the folks down there (John Fernandes at first, now Kyle Miller) have been sending me an electronic version of their local newsletter, The Bandolier Wargames Group Newsletter. Besides assuring me that gaming is alive and well down there, it has proven a fertile source of articles for inclusion in the Citadel, a prime example being Mr Fernandes' series on combined arms theory and practice in the 20th century. Speaking of John Fernandes, members should be aware that his Century of Conflict has been chosen by GHQ to be their house rules set! They hope to be selling modules by Christmas. More info on this can be found on the Internet at Bill Armintrout's ever-useful Miniatures Page (http://members.xoom.com/_XOOM/minipage/index.html). Look in the 'hobby news' section for Oct. 8th. Missing In Action As you know, we renew NHMGS memberships at Enfilade! in May. We use the registration forms to create the mailing list for the Citadel While yours truly does his best, I always get a number of Citadels returned to me by the Post Offices of both the U.S. and Canada with some address problem. Below is this year's list of errant subscribers:
David Gorsline - Everett, WA Malcolm Grahams -White Rock, BC James Riehl - Surrey, BC Donal Wiese - Gresham, OR If anyone knows the proper address (or phone number, or email address) of these guys, would you please forward them to me? They paid for their membership, and I would like them to get the full burden, er, benefit of being part of NHMGS. Thanks.
