A Review of Quality Castings

by Eric Stjern

Ever hear the old wargamers tale about the guy who got sick because he ran low on figures to paint? How about the fellow who passed away only a couple of days after complaining about not having any unpainted figures left?

Rest assured, there are plenty of manufacturers out there to support your habit and keep you in good health. One in particular that comes to my attention as of late is Quality Castings Inc. I have over the past couple of months purchased a vast assortment of vehicles from this company and am pleased to report that the detail and selection is outstanding!

Quality Castings is a small company that manufactures 15mm World War 2 era vehicles and infantry. They also make a decent selection of Korean war and modern vehicles.

If attention to detail is what you like in your wargaming models, this is the place to buy from. The vehicles offer a very extensive selection from 1940 France to modern day equipment and vehicles (great for AK47 Republic, modern African wars).

After ordering a couple of times, I struck up a conversation with the owner about adding some new vehicles to the line. Surprisingly, the vehicles requested were already in the works and no other company is making them in 15mm. Items you need to fill spaces in your order of battle are probably in their catalog, with more additions every month.

My personal observations about this line of vehicles and figures is that I prefer them over every other brand so far except the Military Miniatures line, which also offers a good selection. Each vehicle is cast with very little flash and lots of little details like rivets, tarps, tools and machine guns etc..

You can check out the Quality Castings website at: qualcast@tomco.net

This is a great site that even offers pictures of many of the vehicles offered. The only drawback about this line of figures is the infantry are a bit on the small side. I feel that Peter Pig and Old Glory still make better infantry, Quality Castings making the best vehicles. Visit the website and see for yourself, you won't regret it.
