Fire and Steel

Book Review

Review by Jason Hoover

Fire and Steel - Israel's 7th Armored Brigade Samuel M. Katz. Pocket Books Military Nonfiction. 289 pages, $5.99.

This book takes you from the inception of Israel as a nation all the way to what the future might hold for the IDF (Israeli Defense Force). It tells stories of incredible courage, pioneering in tank warfare (suck as sniper shooting with 105mm rifles) and the shock, terror and confusion of being the first tank force in the world to face anti-tank guided missiles.

For techno-buffs like myself, the details given about the Merkava class main battle tank are great. If you want to see what all-out, point-blank range heavy metal battles are like, read this book!
