In case haven't caught on by now, ENFILADE! is coming up soon. A weekend of drunken debauchery and womanizing ... no, wait, that's another convention. Sorry. ENFILADE! is the drunken debauchery and gaming convention, that's right. Except we don't usually drink too much, because we all know that our money is better spent on more lead that we'll never get around to painting than beer. Anyway, be there! If your wife will let you, at least. Rumors have it that Arty Conliffe, will be coming. Which will thrill some of you and mean nothing to others, I'm sure. I must second Tim McNulty's praise for SALUTE '97 up in Burnaby, B.C.. No, it isn't as big as ENFILADE!, nor does it have as many dealers. But it does have great games, and the Canadian gamers are a great lot. There are also more beautiful women in Vancouver than anywhere else I have ever been in my life. So next year, make a point of going up - it's a good time. I would also like to take this opportunity to apologize to Doug Hamm for saying in the last issue that if members didn't send articles, I would be forced to fill this issue with "Larry Leadhead" cartoons. Doug does those cartoons, and apparently felt slighted that I would use them as a threat against the readership. As I said, I would like to apologize, but I'm not going to, because it worked! Doug will never let me hear the end of this... NHMGS will soon be (if not already) on the World Wide Web. John Fisher has graciously accepted the post of 'Acting Secretary', and offered to set up a home page for us somewhere out there in cyberspace. This page will provide'convention news, membership details, etc. I will provide more information as it becomes available. You might notice that The Citadel now costs a buck if you buy it in a store. The powers that be have heard rumors that some mis-guided souls don't see any point to joining NHMGS if they can get The Citadel free at their local hobby shop. So we are going to nick them for a buck if they want a copy. It's the least we can do, since we all know that they really should become members of this august body. If any of you haven't seen it already, I highly recommend the new 'Director's Cut' of Das Boot. Even if W.W. II German subs aren't your bag, this is a remarkable movie. About 1 hour has been added to the film, and the soundtrack has been digitally re-mastered. Seen in a theater with a good sound system, like the Neptune in Seattle, it really gives you the impression of being in a metal box where your only link to the outside world are the noises coming through the water. Like the approaching sound of propellers, and that annoying pinging sound...
