Some of the more astute amonst you might have noticed that the length of The Citadel keeps growing. The first issue of the year was eight pages, the second 10 pages, and this one is fourteen. This growth is due to the support of you guys, who have been sending me plenty of stuff. Thanks, and keep up the good work. This is (unofficially) the "Oh, Canada" issue. We have three articles by Canadians (Messrs. Preston, Leach and Hamm), one of them about a pivotal battle in Canadian history, cartoons by a Canadian (Mr. Hamm, again), and a review of a Canadian convention. I am drinking a Canadian beer as I write this. If this keeps up, I will have to make up a French language edition. In my efforts to get more stuff in each issue while keeping the postage down, I have switched to a smaller type size and a simpler font. Hopefully the change in fonts will off-set the smaller size as far as readability goes. If people complain that they can't read the new type, I will consider switching back. We are also now accepting advertising. While this helps drive the growth of each issue, it also helps defray the costs. We are currently charging $50 per page, pro-rated for smaller ads (e.g., $25 per 1/2 page). Ads should be sent to me, payment to Russ Bauder. Speaking of Russ, I, for one, would like to acknowledge all the work he put in to make Enfilade a success. Russ not only had a big hand in the planning, but also took responsibility for the day-to-day running of the thing. Remember, without Russ, we would have had to do all this work ourselves! I think we should all thank him. No elections for the Board of Directors were held at Enfilade this year. This was because no one chose to stand for office, so the current incumbents will retain their exalted positions. Remember, if you do want to run for an NHMGS office, you should tell someone on the NHMGS Board by February (the Bear Room auction). This allow some time to schedule and organize a ballot at Enfilade. Gamers in the Seattle area may wish to take advantage of a new club being formed, called the Northwest Wargamers Association. John Fisher of Fantastic Games is organizing this to foster gaming in the Seattle area. Currently the club is using Fantastic Games as its base of operations, but is looking for a larger place that will be able to serve as a clubhouse. Interested parties should contact John, or stop by Fantastic Games.
