The Enfliade! Report

1995 Convention

By Russ Bauder

ENFILADE! opened at 8 AM on May 27th, 1995 to a waiting throng. A great many thanks to the event presenters and the convention organizers. The continued success of ENFILADE! is a direct result of the contributions of these individuals.

The convention offered 43 events, 15 dealers and a painting competition. Our Special Guest this year was Hal Thinglum, the editor of MWAN (Midwest Wargamers Association Newsletter). Hal put on a pair of classic colonial events. The attendance broke the 200 mark, which is a 10% decline from last year. There was a good scattering of events on both days. The American Civil War scenario on the Battle of Stones River was given the award for Best of Show. There were a large number of fighting sail events, including two Battles of Trafalgar. The Advanced Squad Leader Tournament was especially well attended this year. The ASL participants are entitled to the Black Hole of Calcutta Award for the largest number of people to occupy one space for the whole weekend.

There were a good number of dealers again this year. Our thanks to Geohex, C&M Hobbies, Games Plus, Vauban Enterprises, Fantastic Games & Toys, Hobbytown USA, Red Plume Painting Service and Caravan Sarai for their continued presence and support of our convention. New dealers in attendance this year included Shamrock & Thistle from Olympia, WA. and Columbia Games from Blaine, WA. The Marco Polo award for the most well traveled dealer must go to Modeler's Mart from Clearwater, Florida. They certainly traveled the farthest and brought the most. The dealers at the convention as well as Ral Partha, Stone Mountain and Vac-u-cast Plastics supplied gift certificates which were awarded to our event presenters for their efforts to make the convention a success.

ENFILADE! 96 has already been scheduled for Memorial Day Weekend, the 25th & 26th of May 1996. The Best Western Landmark Inn and Convention Center in Lynnwood, WA will once again be the location. Mark your calendars now! Future Citadels will have information on the convention as plans develop.
