Welcome to Issue #6 of CHARGE. Debi and I appreciate all the support and encouragement that we have received from the regimental Civil War miniature gaming community!

We look forward to 2005 with great anticipation, as we have a number of new writers and contributors in the works, with several new JR3 scenarios and articles planned. We will be including scenarios for other rules besides JR in the hope that regimental gamers of all sorts will be encouraged to share their excellent research and writing. In this vein, Bill Moreno presents a brief synopsis of converting JR3 and Regimental Fire & Fury scenarios, and in the future, Ohio author Darryl Smith will share some of his F&F / JR3 scenarios with us. George Anderson returns this issue with a summary on his excellent "Hood at Atlanta" series and a campaign game based upon Lee & Gordon's Mill. John Hill shares ideas on supply wagons in JR3. Burkhard Schulze shows us how to construct stone and masonry fortresses, the first of his series on scratch-building forts. Larry Reber discusses cotton bales as breastworks. Scott Monsour presents a synopsis of his new regimental ACW rules, Rally Round The Flag.

We very much welcome contributions from you, the ACW gaming enthusiast! Scenarios, articles on terrain, painting tips, uniform guides, alternative or house rules, etc. are all welcomed!

I've been busy recovering from my recent eye surgery, as well as polishing my upcoming fulllength Civil War book, Flames Beyond Gettysburg: The Gordon Expedition, which is planned for publication in mid-year by Ironclad Publishing. Noted cavalry author Eric J. Wittenberg has written the forward to my book.

I've also spent quite a bit of time working with Colin Burke and Ivor Janci on their excellent maps for our new Antietam wargaming scenario book. Watch for it in 2005! I've also been busy leading tours at nearby Gettysburg, something that I really enjoy.

May your dice be hot this year! I look forward to seeing many of you at HMGS conventions! Stop by and say hello!
