JR3 Optional Rule: Marking Illegal Orders

Allow a shaken unit to mark any order it pleases, including an illegal one like Charge. If it rallies to good morale, it may perform that order. If it fails to rally, the following events happen:

  • Unit immediately adopts the order Conditional Hold
  • Unit immediately takes an additional morale check for an unreasonable order with a +3 modifier for this check only. If they pass, nothing worse happens to them and they sit there, shaken and on Conditional Hold. But if they fail, they immediately rout, with full consequences to them and any surrounding units.
