Born and raised in Brisbane, I guess I qualify as a yokel. Queensland is supposed to be the tourist destination of everyone that lands in Australia, but I wonder why.

I'm studying science and law at the University of Queensland and will be for the foreseeable future. I don't know what I'll qualify as once I graduate but I'm only half way through the course so it's too early to worry about yet.

I've been playing RPGs for 10 years but have only recently met PBM games. The PBM industry is quite well established in Australia. I play a few, but money is the only constraint preventing me from doing more.

Apart from RPGs, I'm involved with theatre and have a great love of British Independent music (The Smiths, Billy Bragg, etc.). I've got to admit these sound like fairly obscure interests. I also love all kinds of fantasy and science fiction.

A look at the membership directory told me that at the moment I'm the only international member. I wonder if that will last very long? [It didn't; since this was written we picked up a members from Canada and Sweden! -Ed.]

My earliest memories start in the second grade, growing up in Colorado. Being an army brat, I have also lived in former West Germany and the suburbs of Chicago with my folks, brother, and sister, and various animals (usually neurotic dogs, cats, and rabbits).

I started playing D&D with the very first boxed set. I quickly progressed to others and AD&D. I am currently living in El Paso, Texas, serving the US Army as an Operations and Security specialist for my platoon. I have been stationed at Fort Bliss twice, the DMZ in South Korea (my favorite tour), and six months in the Persian Gulf where I saw front line action in Iraq as a Vulcan Driver/Stinger Gunner. [For those not familiar with these weapons, they are primarily anti-aircraft defense -- Ed.]

My hobbies are: reading sci-fi, horror, and fantasy, writing short stories and poems, Budweiser beer, heavy metal, politics, movies, camping in the Colorado mountains, animals, more heavy metal, chess, and my '91 Chevy S-10 truck.

I do play or have played: D&D, AD&D (lst edition), ADV MSH, Battletech, Twilight 2000, Gamma World, STAR Frontiers, Traveller, James Bond RPG, Top Secret, Car Wars, Villains & Vigilantes, and PBMs.

As a founding member of DU, I just want to say "peace"!

I've been interested in role-playing games for about 12 years now, although in that time I've never played in a face-to-face game. Most people in the area of West Virginia where I live never played any RPG.

My current gaming interests are in science fiction games like Traveller and Spacemaster, as well as Star Frontiers even though most of my experience in all three is solitaire. Play-by-mail games are a favorite of mine, and right now I'm playing in a Starmagic PBM, a Star Frontiers game, and two AD&D PBMs. Sometime I really would like to play in a face-toface version of any of these games which are my favorites.

Another favorite pastime is writing, and I hope to be able to submit (and finish) a serial story in Chain-Mail in the near future.

I am the third child in my family, and the youngest. My brother and I "role played" games of our own invention until the AD&D Monster Manual came out. I have played many games since.

I live in Ohio and work as a companion to an 84 year old man with Parkinson's disease. I read science fiction and fantasy and try to write the same.

I run TORG, Rifts, and a game of my own invention called the World of Arith. The last is a fantasy game based on some Chaosium games, mostly Stormbringer and Runequest.

I like almost all music, jazz, classical, country, rock, etc. I enjoy comic books and collect role-playing games with superheroes or original magic systems.

I have a college degree in Gerontology, the study of aging, and minors in biology, chemistry, and philosophy. I usually work at in-home care, which makes little money but leaves me with a lot of free time.

I play, at the moment, three other PBM games but am willing to consider any games I do not have to pay for.

I grew up in a small town in Ohio where nothing much ever happened nor was there much to do besides the usual fare in a small town. At an early age, even before I could read I discovered comic books. It was comic books that fueled my desire to learn to read. After picking up what I considered to be the most necessary of skills, I began reading anything I could get my hands on, basically comic books proved to be a steady diet for me and still is very much so even today. From comic books I discovered the works of Edgar Rice Burroughs and became enamored with many of his works, but most especially the John Carter of Mars series. From there I've read the works of a host of authors from Tolkein, Howard Lovecraft, Donaldson, and Adams to name a few. Although I prefer fantasy I branched out into science fiction, gothic horror, and even historical fiction.

As I grew older I became interested in myths and legends such as Celtic, Norse, Greek/Roman, and Oriental, and was especially fond of the works of Joseph Campbell. My hobby with books and comic books led me to gaming.

It was in high school that I was introduced to AD&D and have been gaming ever since (about 15 years) except that now its is difficult to get a group together to play. My gaming experience includes Gamma World, Marvel/DC Heroes, Runequest, Rolemaster/MERP, and even some Doctor Who.

Besides my love of reading and gaming I love animals and have four miniature dachshunds that I refer to as "the herd" and a cat bigger than the dogs who keeps them on their toes.

Besides Dragonslayers Unlimited I belong to RPG SIG, Klingon Strike Force, and play in a few professional PBM offerings such as New Dawn and the up and coming Heropress.

I'd like to close by taking a moment to thank two very kind ladies for introducing me about and taking me under their wing. Thanks to Gennie and Jil!

I enjoy watching Dallas Cowboys football, but I don't play any sports. I bowl as a hobby but am just an average player. My other hobby is my collection of the Masters of the Universe figures and all four play sets.

As far as role-playing is concerned, I have little experience, but have had heroes for the Marvel Universe Game, D&D, and space-oriented games. My favorite movies are the "Star Wars" trilogy, "Conan the Barbarian," "Ladyhawke," "Willow," "The Transformers -- The Movie," Godzilla movies, martial arts movies, and the He-man T.V. series.

I enjoy listening to rock 'n' roll, pop rock, hard rock, and a little bit of everything else. My favorite singers are: Elvis Presley, the Beetles, Madonna, Roxette, Taylor Dayne, Fleetwood Mac, and too many others to mention.
