Impressions From the Prism

The Character Archaic

by Jeffrey Paul Jones

There are several playing aids such as this on the market, used for keeping all the state on one's characters in dungeon-type encounters. Published by Wee Warriors, the Character Archaic appears on 8 1/2" x 14" (legal size) paper, printed lengthwise. It contains spaces for the following: name, I.D. number (whatever that is), god, profession, level, hit points, citizenship, alignment, character type, experience, number of hit dice, gold owned/carried, maximum weight to carry, spaces for all the usual character attributes plus psychic ability, comeliness, and weapon/armor bonuses, and finally a chart to show what items he carries, its weight, said when it is carried. Oh, yeah . . . there is also a place for saving throws versus paralysis, poison, hypnoses, spells, and "other."

My favorite part of all of this is the illustrations on the character sheets. Eleven characters of various types are depicted, adding some esthetic value to the words and blanks.

If I seem a bit negative, I mean to be. Four dollars far 32 character information sheets is a bit too steep for my tastes, especially when I can do the same thing on a sheet of notebook paper or an index card, less the fine illustrations, of course. But for those of you who have money to burn, you'll enjoy the Character Archaic.
