TSR News We are in the process of moving to new and larger quarters. We are setting up our newly acquired computer - device which will certainly improve service. We are being buried under a flood of orders. Now you know the three reasons why our service has not been up to par. Please accept our apologies and assurances that we will do better soon. Our new building is quite large, and over the next year or so it will be remodeled to house all of TSR's operations. Initially, only shipping, processing, accounting, and the shop will move. In fact, these operations should be settled in when you read this. A sacrosanct and pure room has been lavishly appointed for the computer, and its operations will certainly have begun to speed inventory and order handling in October. TSR will not only be able to bring its service back to its normal high, but it should gradually improved thereafter. The "Best Seller" list is topped by ADVANCED D&D PLAYERS HANDBOOK, closely followed by D&D "Basic Set." The new ADVANCED D&D DUNGEON MODULES, GAMMA WORLD, ADVANCED D&D MONSTER MANUAL, and "original" D&D materials round out the list. We are all working very hard to make certain that new products we publish will do as well. Coming up in the not too distant future are these titles:
Plus we will be doing more AD&D playing aids, revising old packaging as games come up for reprint, and publishing many new games of all sorts - historic battle games, fantasy and science fiction , games in new areas, and even the long awaited ADVANCED DUNGEONS & DRAGONS DUNGEON MASTERS GUIDE. Association of Game Manufacturers This past August, twenty-two wargame and miniature manufacturers sat down at Gen Con XI and set in motion what hopefully will become the Association of Game Manufacturers. This Association could really help all small and medium-size companies, and should eventually benefit every publisher and manufacturer in the field. Some of the purposes suggested for the Association are: (1) Publish a newsletter with reviews and news directed at dealers and distributors; (2) Together the companies have "clout," i.e., there could be a sales rep for all of the different lines, and protection for each member in their transactions with magazines and subcontractors; (3) Marketing surveys and research can be done more easily as a group; (4) Exchange advertising and mailing lists; (5) A group lawyer can answer questions about copyrights, patent laws, etc. AGM temporary president: Rick Loomis, Flying Buffalo, Inc., P.O. New Product Turns Wargames Into Wall Games A new dimension in wargaming - vertical boardgaming - has been announced by Orisek Industries of Hinsdale, Illinois. Magnetic mounting of wargames has always offered safety and storage advantages to the wargamer who cannot afford to complete a game in one sitting, but always at the expense of reduced stacking potential and having to glue magnets to the backs of counters. COUNTER CLIPS*, the first part of a planned MAGNIMOUNT SYSTEM*, eliminate these disadvantages and make magnetic mounting of boardgames quick and easy. The COUNTER CLIP* is designed to hold any standard one-half inch wargaming unit counter firmly in place without causing permanent damage to the counter. As with any magnetic product, a metal backing is required and the wargamer must mount or temporarily attach his paper mapboard to a piece of tin or steel sheet metal in order to use this product to its full potential. COUNTER CLIPS* are designed to allow wargame counters to slide in and out with ease, making them reusable for any number of wargames. This feature also allows hidden movement games and games with double-sided counters (quickly becoming the rule rather than the exception) to be played in a magnetic format. These magnetized rubber clips can also be stacked up to ten "high" with no difficulty. Produced and sold by Orisek Industries, P.O. Box 52, Hinsdale, Illinois, these clips are available in boxed sets of 100 clips each. Suggested retail price is $6.00. (*Trademark of Orisek Industries, Pat. Pending.)
