Line of Communications

Editorial

by Don Lowry

First, my apologies to those of you waiting with 'bated breath for the second part of my Star Web article. We have less time than usual to get this issue ready, because of our trip to Origins 78. Normally this issue would go to the printer in late or middle July so we could mail it the first week in August. However, we're leaving here about 8 July and won't be back until the 27th. And then we'll have almost three weeks of mail to catch up on. So the only practical procedure is to get this issue ready early and leave it with the printer before we go. Because of us having to put this issue together in one month instead of two, plus the extra work of getting ready for the trip, there just wasn't time to write Part 2 of the Star Web article. Unless something unforseen comes up it should be ready in time for the next issue (#88).

Because of the short lead time on this issue we have so far received, at this writing, only about half the usual number of Return Fire responses, but here's how they shape up:

    Anzio Addendum 5.90
    Air Assault on Crete 5.81
    Case White 5.81
    Thumbnail Analysis 5.81
    Another Russian Start 5.76
    Mail Call 5.67
    Issue #86 as a whole 5.60
    Star Web, Part I 5.52
    Line of Communications 5.48
Starting a College Wargame Club 5.24
    The Ultimate Wargame 5.14
    Book Review 5.10
    G2 Reports 5.05
    SDC Report 3.76

Obviously the early birds, at least, were not much impressed with last issue. If I have time after we get back I'll see how this compares witht the full returns. The best-three voting differed only on third place:

    Anzio Addendum - Oleson $5.00
Air Assault on Crete - Alsen $3.00
    Star Web Part I - Lowry $2.00
