Several gamers have enquired about a product that popped up at the last Origins, The Vietnam Survival Game. Well, folks, you would be better served by giving your money to Peg Bundy; this is a SE Asian Chutes & Ladders. There's virtually no strategy involved; just endless dicerolling . . . your 5-year old nephew might have fun . . . . It appears that GDW's gamble with its $60 shelf-space smasher, Stand or Die, has taken the latter advice. Much grumbling from distributors on price; even more from retailers, who are pretty much refusing to allot that much space to an item that will not move. Almost cancels out (but not quite) the benefits from those umpteen gazillion copies of "The Desert Shield Fact Book" that Frankie C. sold. . . . The second edition of Jim Dunnigan's "Wargamer's Handbook" has been finished and is off to the publishers. . . . His long-awaited - and even longer gestating - computer version of the 100 Years' War appears to be living up to its name; it still is having some troubles. . . . There's a rumor floating around that Jack Greene will cut short his Grand Tour of The Old World; word has reached him that there are now two new companies he has not yet worked for. He couldn't pass up the opportunity. . . . OVER THE HORIZON: Games heading for the guillotine in our next issue include - at least for now - QUATRE BRAS, OMAHA, 1863 , and THE LEGEND BEGINS.
