Cassell, 2002, $14.95, ISBN 0-304-35985-8, 239 pgs., paperback This volume complements the Second World War in the Far East quite well, succinctly covering WWII from 1939 to 1945, starting in Poland and the rest of Western Europe, then heading south to North Africa and east to the Soviet Union. Like other volumes in the Cassell History of Warfare series, this book covers a lot of ground in a short length. The major invasions, campaigns, and battles receive text and map coverage, interspersed with photos, to provide an excellent overview. This is primarily a land-based book. The U-boat/convoy battles and strategic air bombing campaign receive but a passing mention. All in all, it's another excellent volume in the series.
