Book Review:

Napoleon Bonaparte

by Russia State Historical Museum

Reviewed by Russ Lockwood

This 64-page softcover offers a glimpse into the Russian State Historical Museum's collection of Napoleonic Militaria. A multitude of color photos show off uniforms, maps, paintings, coins, weapons, and more. Thankfully, English translations appear with each photo. A 6-page summary of Napoleon's life is included, although the translation is er, shall we say, dramatic, and also suspect in spots.

But you're not buying this for the narrative. I've not seen many of these illustrations and paintings before--and they are absolutely marvelous. If you can't get to the Russian Museum, this is the next best thing.

Cost? $10. A bargain!
