Book Review:

Army of Peter I
(Peter the Great)

Reviewed by Russ Lockwood

$10: 64 pages

This is better than an Osprey. Where as an Osprey is 8 pages of color and the rest is black and white, this is pretty much full color throughout.

The 80 illustrations (60 or so color) include weapons, uniforms, drill positions, and general Funcken style collages of soldiers in action. The quality is quite good and there seems to be a series of such booklets. In addition, it holds 14 color flag illustrations.

The big drawback is that this is written entirely in Russian. However, Craig Martelle provides translation of all captions. While that doesn't help with the text, ti does tell you which unit is which and provides an excellent uniform guide.
