Baen, 2002, $26, ISBN: 0-7434-3545-1, hardback, 869 pages The 10th book in the Honor Harrington series comes with a CD filled with the first nine books. I've never used it as I have the entire series, but I like the idea. I bought this for $7 at a discount bookstore. I like that idea, too, because if I had paid $26 for this, I would've returned it for my money back. Alas, the magic of Honor Harrington is gone. If you thought the gab fest of # 9 Ashes of Victory was bad, this is worse. The book starts on page 391. The first 390 pages consist primarily of conferences, meetings, and bureaucratic filler. And I can't say the rest was entirely satisfying either. I suspect another book might pop out. It might even contain some plot points. It might even be interesting. But unless the flood of meetings dries up, the 11th Honor Harrington will flop like these last two novels.
