by Andy Nunez
Andy got acquainted with wargames about the same time he was graduating from the University of Maryland, Eastern Shore. The first wargame he played was Avalon Hill's Kriegspiel and he was hooked. Since then, Andy has worked for the State of Maryland, Department of Human Resources, in the Family Investment Administration. Andy's name appears on the playtest credits of Game Designer's Workshop's Fire in the East and Scorched Earth, and Clash of Arm's War for the Union, and Struggle for Europe. He was the art editor for the monstergaming fanzine Chain of Command for a good deal of its run, contributing covers, after-action reports and interior illustrations. He wrote two articles on Avalon Hill's Russian Front, and an after action report of the "Scorched Earth 1942" scenario at Origins 87. In 1996, Andy retired from wargaming after 20 years to start a family, but was persuaded to return to the colors by ATO, first as a columnist, then as a fill-in writer, and finally as editor. Besides wargaming, Andy collects lects the works of Edgar Rice Burroughs and other pulp-era literature. He maintains book stalls at two antique malls and relaxes by writing and illustrating pastiches of his favorite adventure heroes. His fiction has been published in the Shore Writer's Sampler II, Inside the Old House, Tales from the Shadows, and Cthulhu Cultus. Online stories have appeared in the defunct Night Cry, and several Burroughs' pastiches can be found in the fan-fiction section of ERBMania at http://www.erblist.com/fanfiction/index.html. Andy is married and has one daughter and 3 stepsons, the youngest of which now is hooked on wargaming also. The tradition continues.
