February 7 Marmont, with 1,800 cavalry, 1,500 infantry and six guns moves to Sezanne. February 8 (AM) - French cavalry drives in Karpov's cossack outposts at Villenauxe, some 14 miles south of Sezanne. (PM) - Sacken is at Montmirail, with cavalry at Viels Maisons'. Oisufief is at Etoges. Blucher's HQ is at Vertus. Kleist, with most of his corps had arrived at Chilons, and Kapzevich is at Vitry. (Night) - Marmont's leading division is at Sezanne, Ney is between Villenauxe and Sezanne. February 9 (AM) - Sacken, leaving Karpov's cossacks around Sezanne, marches for La Ferte-sous-Jouarre. Blucher remained at Etoges, with Olsufief at Champaubert. (PM) - Yorck was half-way between Epernay and Chiteau- Thierry; Olsufief's Headquarters at Baye is charged by some French lancers of Marmont's Corps. Sacken is at Montmirail. Kleist is at Vertus, Kapzewitch is at Bergeres. Blucher is at Champaubert, moving to Bergeres. (Night) - Napoleon reached Sezanne with the Guard. (Thaw) Macdonald is at La Ferte sous Jouarre. February 10 (early AM) - French cavalry takes the bridge at St. Prix. Blucher is marching to Sezanne with Kleist and Kapzewitsch. (1100) - Ricard and Bouidessoule attack Udom (of Olsufief's 4,000 man Corps) before Baye. Udom is reinforced by one brigade. Lagrange's and Doumerc's attacks on (the wood of) Bannay repulsed. (1500) - Ney with artillery attacks Bannay. Bannay and Baye captured. Bordessoule on the right, Doumerc on left are positioned to cut the retreat. Poltoratzki's (2 rgts., 9 guns, 1,000 men) rearguard is at Champaubert. Olsufief captured. (hex 5412) in the retreat to Etoges. (PM) - Yorok's heavy guns and two infantry bdes. (5,000 men) are left at Chateau-Thierry. His advance guard is at Viels Maisons. 11,000 men are at Viffort. (2100) Sacken is returning from La Ferte-sous-Jouarre after breaking the bridge. (2200) - Nansouty departs Champaubert toward Montmirail. (Night) Kleist and Kapzewitsch, near Fere Champenois, are ordered to return to Vertus. Yorck's advanced guard departs Vieux Maisons toward Rozoy. Mortier is at Sezanne, marching to Montinirail. Ney is at Champaubert. February 11 (Night) Nansouty marches to Montmirail (2 cavalry divs., 2 bdes. of Ricard's Div). (0166) Colbert's cavalry reaches Montmirail, driving Karpow's cossacks out. Defrance arrived at Vieux Maisons from La Ferte Gaucher. Leval is at La Ferte Gaucher. (0300) - Marmont sends Ricard to support Nansouty while remaining at Etoges with Lagrange and the lst Cavalry Corps (2,500 infantry, 1,800 cavalry). (0500) - Napoleon departs Champaubert for Montmirail. (0600) - Ney and La Ferriere depart Champaubert, following Napoleon. (Dawn) - Mortier, with Division Michel-Christiani (excluding a rearguard and Defrance) sets out from hex 41 U toward La Ferte Gaucher). Wassiltchikow and Karpov an at L'Epine (3312). Nansouty reaches hex 3812. Katzeler is at Viffort. (0900) - Yorck's Advance Guard arrives at Rozoy, encountering French cavalry there and at Fontenelle. Yorck's infantry is at Viffort. Yorck's artillery and one infantry division is at Chiteau-Thierry. Sacken is at Vieux Maisons, with troops still marching up; the Advanced Guard is in contact with the enemy further east. Nansouty drives Russian outposts from Les Chouteaux. Wassiltchikow joins Katzeler in combat versus Nansouty near Rozoy. (1100) - Yorck's single division, Pirch II occupies Fontenelle. Sacken's deployment: Tallitzin is at 3312, Bernodossow at 3311, Stawitzky at 3211, Sass at 3212 and Wassiltchikow is at 3310. Tscherbatow (VI) advancing with Lieven (XI) on his left taking Les Grenaux (hex 3511) driving Ricard from Marchais. Cavalry is now north of the road. (1200) - Only two French inf divisions are up, Ricard and Friant. Guyot Laferriere, Colbert, and Defrance are waiting to attack.Blucher arrives at Bergeres, having accumulated 1,500 stragglers from Olsufief's defeated command. (1300) - Michel (with Mortier) approaches the battle, Ney in person arrives, his Young Guard still behind. (1400) - Pirch moves down from Fontnelle. His attack toward P1enois driven back to Fontenelle, losing 900 men (1530) Yorck (Bde Horn) reaches Fontenelle. Sacken retreats, losing 2,800 men and 13 guns. French losses: 2,000. (Night) - Macdonald is out of play, due to the broken bridge at Trilport. Sebastini is held up by the broken bridge at Le Ferte-sous-Jouarre. St. Germain, sent by MacDonald, reaches Marchais via Coulomniers. February 12 (AM) - The Prussian rearguard at Les Caquerets attacked by Ney and pursued off the map. Sacken burns the bridge behind him. Mortier, at ChateauThierry (with Christiani's Old Guard, plus the cavalry of Colbert and Defrance), pursues Sacken and Yorck beyond the Marne. Prussian losses: 1250 men, 6 guns; Sacken: 1500 men, 3 guns. French: 600 men. Leval arrives at Viels Maisons. Blucher is at Bergeres. Napoleon is at Chateau-Thierry. February 13 (AM) - Blucher, marching toward Vauchamps, encounters French cavalry under Ricard en route through Fromentieres to rejoin Marmont. (PM) - Bliicher now has recovered 800 cavalry, and. moved to Champaubert with Ziethen in front and Kleist and Kapzewitch behind. Marmont is at Fromentieres. Leval is at Viels Maisons. The Chateau-Thierry bridge is repaired (3 turns). Balance of Roeder's cavalry reaches Blucher. (Night) - Urussow's Division is left at Etoges to cover it. Blucher's retreat. February 14 (0400) - Ney, St. Germain, Friant, Curial, Leval and Grouchy march east through Montmirail. Napoleon arrives at Montmirail. (0430) - Marmont is falling back. (0630) - Blucher follows up Marmont. (0800) - Skirmishing at Vauchamps. (1000) - Ziethen attacks Ricard,(hex 4113) and Lagrange of VI Corps. Blucher is at Fromentieres. (PM) - Grouchy attacks via Sarrechamps. Ziethen eliminated. Blucher, with the Russians behind Ziethen, withdraws. Losses: Prussians: 4,000 men, 9 guns. French: 600 men. Total Losses for the Six Days
