1863 Action at Mine Run

Bonus Scenario

by John Prados

Editor's Note: This one's an oldie but goodie first printed many years ago. So break out your copy of Campaigns of Robert E. Lee and fight one of the great what-ifs of the War.

19.11 Mine Run - 1863:

By the end of 1863, both sides had transported substantial forces out of the eastern theater in an attempt to influence the fighting in the West. The remaining units were themselves worn down by the heavy attrition of the Gettysburg Campaign. Under heavy pressure to do something, the Union Army prepared to launch a winter offensive. If he moved quickly, Meade could catch the rebels unprepared. This scenario begins Nov. 20th 1863 (Turn 1) and ends Dec. 5th 1863 (Turn 3). The first two turns are in November and the last is in December.
