Rule 7 Does a turn at the EZ rate at
supersonic speeds incur any decel points? How about
sustained EZ turns?
Yes, a supersonic speed turn at the EZ rate incurs the 2
decel supersonic turn penalty. If you sustain a turn at the EZ rate, the
second and subsequent facings incur the normal sustained turn
penalties.
Rule 9. 1. When do you roll for radar
ranging lock-ons, before or after declaring a gun attack?
At either time. You may roll for radar ranging once, at any
point in your move where gunsight tracking parameters are being met
prior to declaring a gun attack, or you may roll for it after declaring
the attack. If you roll for radar ranging and fail, you may not check
for it again until you have fired your guns at least once al the original
target, or switched targets, or a new game turn begins.
Rule 9J. Can you decide to snap fire
after rolling for radar ranging? Yes, after declaring a
gun attack and rolling for radar ranging, you may elect to not fire, to
snap fire, or to fire normally. You are never required to fire if the
result would be an automatic miss. However, if you elect not to fire
after declaring a gun attack, you save your amino but are still
considered to have used up one of your two allowed gun attacks for the turn.
Rule 9.I. Do you, or can you, roll for
radar ranging twice if two shots are taken against the same
target? What about at different targets? When firing
twice at the same target, if radar ranging was achieved for the first
shot, it is automatically continued for the second shot. If radar
ranging was not achieved for the first shot, it may be rolled for on
the second shot. When firing at different targets, radar ranging must
be attempted separately against each.
Rule 9.I. Do you have to use
boresight or auto-track modes to do radar ranging if you
violated the radar search maneuver restrictions in rule
18? NO! The maneuver restrictions given in rules 18A.2
and 18.B.2 apply only to radar searches done in the air-to-air radar
phase. There are no maneuver restrictions on radar ranging
attempts done during the flight phase.
Rule 9.I. Do AJMs, DJMs, chaff, or
stealth technology affect the die roll for radar ranging?
AJMs do, if the target aircraft is equipped with an AJM,
the air radar modifier is applied to the attacker's radar ranging
roll (Rule 38, Air Strike). DJMs, chaff, and stealth technology do
not affect radar ranging attempts. Stealth technology has no affect
because al gun ranges, any aircraft can put enough power on the
target to get a range reading.
Rule 19. When two aircraft fire
RIHMs at each other, the have to move proportionally just as
in a "shoot out" between SAMs and guided weapons, right?
Also, how do you determine who declares engagement first?
After all, whoever engages loses his missiles and the other
guy gets a free shot. Yes, a proportional shoot out must
be resolved. The best way to handle the engaged question is to have
both players secretly note their intentions on paper and then
simultaneously reveal them to each other. No guts, no glory,
eh?
Rule 19. Does an AHM go active
immediately after launch if within the active homing range?
Or does it wait until after the next turn's EW phase, giving
the target one try to break the launch aircraft's lock on?
The AHM is active immediately. Breaking the launch
aircraft's lock on in this case has no effect on the AHM.
Rule 29. When strafing ground
targets, can you snap fire? If so, how are the modifiers
applied? Yes you may. This has not been addressed
previously in the rules. When snap-firing, figure the air-to-ground
attack odds normally, then shift one column to the left and apply the
+2 snap firing modifier to the attack roll.
Rule 38.13. Do AJMs affect all air-
to-air radars in its jamming arc, or just those trying to lock
on to the jamming aircraft? The AJM air radar die
roll modifiers are only applied to detection and lock-on attempts
against the carrying aircraft.
