HF-24 Marut

Data Card

by J.D. Webster

In Indian mythology, the "Storm Spirits" are known as the Maruts, the spirits of tempest and thunder who ride the whirlwind and direct the course of a storm. They are often portrayed as handsome young men, strongly armed and arrayed in gleaming armor. They were the constant companions of Indra, the storm god, and of Vajra, the wielder of the thunderbolt!

The manmade Marut, HAL's polished and very sleek HF-24 jet, with its 30mm cannons, 1000 lb. bombs and 68mm rocket packs was a very stable and potent attack jet and certainly very aptly named. Just ask the Pakistani army.
