The CF-105 Arrow, a sophisticated two man mach two interceptor designed by the Canadians would have been the worlds most advanced high altitude fighter in the 1970's butnever got past the prototype stage, Since the data Card for the CF-105 was featured in issue 14 of Air Power, the following variants were conjectured by Canuck extraordinaire, Scott Forrest: CF-105 Arrow Mk.3 = Improved Engines and added weapons capability; as Mk.2 but increase A/B power ratings by 0.5. Increase all CL and 1/2 A/B power climb capability by 1.0 and all NEI power climb capability by 0.5. Increase AB fuel use to 24. Add stations 3 and 4, one under each wing. Station limit = 2200, allowed loads= FT or Sparrow 3 RHMonly. Add stations 5 and 6, wingtip AIM-9 launchers. Station limit = 200, allowed loads= IRM only. (This was inspired by a model kit conversion). Add DDS-A. CF-105 Arrow Mk.5 = F-14 technology borrowed. As Mk. 3 but delete station 2. Replace with four under fuselage stations 7 through 10. Station limits-- 1000, allowed loads-- AIM-7 RHM or AIM-54 AHMs only. Reduce all maximum speeds by 1.0 due to the extra drag of external stations. Internal radar, same as F14A's AWG- 9. Add DJM-A4 to ECM and use F-14A technology. VAS would be a standard feature. CF-105 Strike-Arrow = As Mk.3 but delete station 2 for internal bomb-bay. Bay limit 6,000 lbs or 12 BB class weapons or two Nuc bombs or one Blue Steel mic RK. Add DJM-A4.
