Dear Mr. Webster, This establishment is carrying out studies on the comparison of various nation's military capabilities, and in the course of doing this we have found that the scoring systems used in the games "Air Superiority" and "Air Strike" appear to offer a useful method of comparing different nation's air forces' capabilities. I understand that you are the designer of these games. Would you have any objection to our using your values in our work? Are there any copyright restrictions of which we should be aware? I would be most interested to know if you have a standard methodology for calculating these scores or whether they are assessments based on your own experience. If you do have a standard method I wonder if you would be willing to write a short description of the method for us. Yours sincerely,
On Her Majesty's Service Ministry of Defense Defence Operational Analysis Establishment United Kingdom [I kid you not! Got this last month! No doubt soon I will be invited to give a lecture at Sandhurst, followed by a tea with the Queen, whereupon I will be offered a posting to the Air Staff of the RAF as chief advisor to the Air Marshall for the defense of all England; ... uh, well maybe not...but then again were are talking the British here!) Tony, To my delight and chagrin, I found issues 11 and 12 in my mailbox this evening after having mailed a puzzled letter to you this morning concerning them. You and J.D. do a bang-up job. Keep up the good work. I enjoyed your piece on radar. It would be neat to see other technical articles as well. If you run Radar Contacts again, please list me. Sincerely,
Dear J.D. and Tony I was quite surprised that only five people were listed in Radar Contacts in issue #11. Would you please include me in your next Radar Contacts. Sincerely,
(We've been surprised too at the lack of response to our version of a player's wanted service. We must have a request from you in writing in order to list you, but the service is free, J.D.)
