1. External load points may be dropped at any point in the aircraft's flight; however, does this mean they can be dropped before the power setting is selected?

NO! They may be dropped after the expenditure of any FP in an aircraft's flight. Since power setting must be chosen before the aircraft moves, the power for the configuration before the load was dropped must be used.

2. If load points are dropped, say halfway through an aircraft's flight, which change its configuration, does the accel points for the power also change at that time?

NO! Whatever accel was given at the start of the turn, applies for the whole turn even if configuration changes occur. On the following game-turn, the new configuration would apply.

3. In the damage rules and tables, Players shift one column right if the aircraft was previously damaged. Does a "no effect" hit count as previous damage in this regard?

NO! Only "L" damaged or higher damaged aircraft are penalized. No effect = no effect for all considerations.

4. Can Sustained Climbs (first edition rules) bonus VFPs be counted for purposes of proportional moves against missiles.

Yes, always divide the total number of FPs available to the aircraft into the missile's speed. Of course in this case the player must announce the intent to use the bonus VFPs before his movement begins so the proportional movement ratio can be determined.

5. Can Sustained Climbs bonus VFPs be used to meet turning requirements

Yes.

6. Can the one VFP expended to start a sustained climb be used to meet turning requirements?

Yes.

7. If an aircraft is targeted by a missile it cannot see, a friendly aircraft which can see both the target and the missile may warn the target aircraft so that it can engage the missile. Does this mean that friendly aircraft are always sighted?

Yes, all friendly aircraft not in the blind arc of another friendly are considered sighted to that firiendly for the entire turn. They do not have to be in the arcs the friendly aircraft actually chose to sight into. Likewise, the missile need only be sighted by one friendly and is then considered sighted to all friendlies except those whose bind arcs the missile is in. To be able to warn a wingman of a missile attack, both the friendly and the missile in question must not be in the warning aircraft's blind arc.

8. On the A-4N Skyhawk, Kfir C-7, and Lavi data cards featured in issues 11 and 12, the DJM ratings are followed by a number. What does this number mean?

The number is the effectiveness rating of theDJM. Effectiveness ratings are part of the 2d Edition system rules. Basically, in 2d edition, the letter code tells you what firequencies the DJM is effective against and the number tells you how effective. When attempting a break-lock, take the effectiveness number and subtract the tracking radar's ECCM ratingfirom it. The difference is the die roll or less needed to break lock.
