Origins!

Well if you can't figure it out from the headlines, the Air Superiority Trophy is back in Yankee hands for a year thanks to the excellent playing of Mark "Top- Wop" Bovankovich. His erstwhile shadow and wingman, Curtis "The Weasel from hell" Maki also put in a great weekend performance helping Mark take first place in the Air Strike tourney while taking third place himself. The second place winner eaked Curtis out by one point, so it was a close contest.

Simply put, Origins this year was the best ever! Both tourneys were well attended, the scenarios were challenging, the players motivated, and Tony and I had a scoring system which worked. There was no bickering, no rules lawyering, and the competition was of high calibre! We even made the local news with yours truly filling in as anchor for two minutes for an ignorant Mr. TV personality who knew nothing of wargaming. Tony will cover Saturday's Air Sup. Tourney this issue and I will go over Friday's Air Strike Tourney at a future time.

As usual, we were the largest, noisiest and most fun loving group among the boardgame events! We were the only modern Air Game competition at the Con. Flight Leader and Tac Air were not represented. Air Force and Dauntless was missing. Avalon Hill did sponsor a B-17 tourney, and the once grand Ricthofen's War Demolition Derby was a bust with fewer than six people showing up I think. The only other air game action was a group playing Wings with models down in the Miniatures room.
