Vectored In

Ripped

by Tony Valle

I won't say I got ripped off at the 1990 Origins tourney. J.D. does that eloquent enough in Part 3 of his Origins Tournament Review. All I have to say is that I know what the scoring system will be like this year and those snow-sucking beer-heads had better check six early and often! (That's unofficial, of course).

More of Eagles of the Gulf 2 comes your way in this issue. Space considerations prevented us from publishing another six scenarios, but they'll get out there soon enough. We have every intent of getting all the EOG 2 material out through AIR POWER sooner rather than later.

I'll avoid repeating the apologies made in Issue #I I about the tardiness of these two issues. Suffice it to say that we are partly to blame, circumstance is partly to blame, and bad timing has had a hand in it too. You should be getting Issues #11 and #12 in mail together (if you're a subscriber) and the amount of material is far too much to digest fully before you get # 13. That's a personal promise.

As indicated on the front cover, #13 will be dedicated to operation Desert Storm from the air gainers point of view. Issue #14 is currently slated to be the Canadian aircraft review promised by J.D. in return for the Canuck victory at the 1990 Origins. "Sled-dogs in the sky" is a good way to characterize it. We don't know whether #15 will be out by Origins time or not. The fact that we lost the entire month of February to a recalcitrant printer may put us too far behind to be sure. We do have some neat ideas for prizes at Origins, however, and you can read elsewhere in this issue about the hope that Baltimore will host the First Annual Air Superiority / Air Strike National in early July. If you can make it to Origins, it's almost always worth the trip.

I find myself running out of space once again. There are four new aircraft in the middle of this issue, and they're all pretty interesting to fly. This issue does not have a Radar Contacts section since it is being released with #11 and there are no new names to be added. You can get on the list quickly if you send me your address via email to A.VALLE2 on GEnie or to valle@huntsville.sparta.com on internet. I'll have a CompuServe address soon as well, but since that costs money, we won't be using it too much.

I've got to get back to the game board--I've got a gaggle of practice Canadians to off. Maybe I'll hose a Californian or two as a change of pace. Nose high 'til you die, folks!
