Any chance of an ME-262 or other German Jet/ Rocket aircraft data cards showing up in the near future? I know they are from the wrong war, but could provide some interesting "what ifs" with Vampires, Meteors, and Shooting Stars. Thanks Again,
How about it folks, anybody else want to see these aircraft? Why do I get the feeling that if I do diem, the next request will be for Mustangs and Thunderbolts to chase them around, followed by a World War II game to use the Mustangs and Tbolts in? J.D.W. I'm very favorably impressed with Air Power. Regarding Battleplan, it currently seems to be in limbo. This is a shame because it filled a worthwhile niche in the hobby. I and other writers contributed heavily and would like to see more of our work published. About 3 months ago I spoke to Keith Poulter at 3W and he told me that while it was not a top priority, he wanted to get another issue out by the end of the year. Well I and many others are still waiting. Another publisher told me he has conducted negotiations to acquire BP. If this happens BP will be discontinued but its material would be incorporated into this individuals other Publications. Very Truly yours,
Thanks for the BP update James. I believe the other publisher is Dr. Cummings of Wargamer and Fire and Movement. James was a regular contributing editor to BP. I would like to make a few comments on Puzzle #1 and its solution printed in issue #10. All the aircraft are at VH so rule 14.J is in effect whereby I additional HFP is required to prep for maneuvers. Per rule 6.G, all the aircraft should have only 1/3 normal accel. This was obviously not the case as both MIGs used a snap turn immediately plus a BT for 4 decel points and took their full 1.5 accel. Your failure to apply these rules to the MiGs implied I didn't need to follow them either hence my solution involving the Lag Roll. Sincerely,
Dang! caught me cheating again! You're right Dave, I flunk Puzzle Making 101. I'll be more careful in the future. Thanks for keeping us honest. Air Superiority is the first air game to come out and offer, through Air Power, the support services necessary to maintain an ongoing interest in the game. This is of special importance because it addresses modern aircraft, an ever changing realm. I will support your desire to expand coverage to other games, but with some hesitation. Never forget your roots! I would never want to see any issue of AP devote less than 75% of Its coverage to Air Sup./ Air Strike etc. These are the games that caught the imagination of your subscribers, not the others. Don't dilute the soup too much or 4 may end up being tasteless. However, to affirm my trust in you and support your activities, I have inclosed $12 to extend my subscription. Anyone who thinks that is too much for a good newsletter has got his head stuck up his afterburner! Sincerely yours,
Thanks for the trust and support Bill. Your game, besides Its entertainment value, has a tremendous amount of teaching potential. I've been recently posted to the USAF Fighter Weapons School and one of my projects is to write a paper on training simulations. Your game allows non-pilots the opportunity to learn and visualize many aspects of air combat that can't be seen on radar or heard over comm-links. The more knowledge GCI controllers have, the better we can help our pilots kill and survive. As a future weapons Officer in a GCI squadron, I plan on utilizing your game to give new controllers the ability to visualize an air battle and the intracacies of air combat. I've taught the game to new controllers in the past and it really works. Its helped their situational awareness 100%, besides, unless somebody is really shooting at you, its fun. Sincerely,
It's nice to know that my game has an educational value. Thanks for sharing your praise. J.D.W. Thanks to all of you for a job well done. Despite the fact that the Air Sup. system seems headed into rough waters thanks to GDW (I've seen this before), I believe it is the very best Air Game on the market. Part of this is Air Power's support. I value its input to the point that I would gladly pay $50 for a subscription. Keep up the good work! Best Regards,
Thanks Jim! Say Tony, send Jim a bill for the balance of $50 bucks. Say, why don't we send everyone a bill for that...No? Sorry Jim, Tony says you gotta pay the regular price. Dang, we coulda made big bucks on that. Back to Table of Contents -- Air Power # 12 Back to Air Power List of Issues Back to MagWeb Magazine List © Copyright 1990 by J.D.
