We're LATE! Maybe some of you haven't noticed yet, but we're about two months behind schedule. Egad! How could such a catastrophe happen? Well, it's my fault really, and I apologize. I got very occupied this summer with a number of items not related to Air Power. Without going into too much detail, I've not only had my airline flying increased due to the Middle East crisis, but my commission in the Air National Guard came through necessitating spending time sorting old Navy records out. This on top of two weeks of treasure hunting in South America (I'm not kidding) and every other moment of my free time devoted to finishing up "GUNSLINGERS"; aka "...And Kill MiG's"; formerly "MiG-Killers". The real delay in the newsletter has in fact been the production of "Gunslingers"; which, by the way, is the new title to the Korea/Vietnam Air Superiority game due out in November. Unfortunately, I fell behind my allotted time-table and in order to meet the deadlines (I missed by a month) I had to cease writing on Air Power. The good news is that both the 2nd edition Air Superiority rules and the "Gunslingers" scenario booklets are finally done and undergoing editing and typesetting at GDW and they might even make their proposed deadlines. As of this writing, I'm finalizing the counter sheet lay-out, the maps and the Data-Cards (40 of 'em!).
This will allow Lis to expand, If we so desire, Into producing counters, maps, and off-ter things above and beyond just printing scenarios and new data cards In the newsletter. Budget wise, we're strong and healthy but definitely understaffed. The fact that we had to delay production because I couldn't write, certainly pointed out the weakness of a twoman operation. Therefore, at this time we are looking for an assistant editor who can do some typesetting and lay-outs for us. If you have a Macintosh computer, or one capable of transferring formatted text via a modem to a MAC, and wish to volunteer your help, please contact us via Air Power. Okay, that leads me to another point! You'se bums ain't writing enough articles for us. In three months, we've received one submission from a brave soul. Now I love to write, but if we had had more material from outsiders, maybe Tony could have put together an issue instead of being forced to wait for Moose-head here to start cranking up his old typewriter. I know you guys got great ideas out there from the number of lett~r~ with unfinished rules suggestions and scenario suggestions we get! But, geez guys!!, help us out by sending FINISHED ideas and scenariosH Back to Table of Contents -- Air Power # 10 Back to Air Power List of Issues Back to MagWeb Magazine List © Copyright 1990 by J.D.
