by David Hollins and Jeffrey Burn. The extra 5,000 words in the Warrior titles by contrast seem to hit the balance rather better as this excellent study by Dave Hollins proves. While the Men at Arms series is primarily aimed at covering uniforms, the Warriors are much more tightly focussed and ought as this one does to provide a very solid guide for historical interpreters. In fact, using these titles properly could make the difference between a knockabout re-enactment impression and something altogether more convincing, All the basic information is provided for sorting out the background while the wealth of detail in Jeffrey Burns attractive plates should serve as a specification for recreating an Infantryman's full kit. It is surprisingjust how poorly equipped all too many re-enactors are, but at least the Warriors show what they should be aiming for.
