A number of re-enactment groups have recently banded themselves together to form a new Napoleonic Confederation. The new organisation is made up of eight top quality Napoleonic re-enactment units, comprising infantry, dragoons and artillery representing both the British and the French armies of the period. They are now in the process of forming a national infantry regiment for Scotland based on the 71st Foot, Highland Light Infantry and a national infantry regiment for the rest of the UK based on the 9th Foot, in order to field a significant amount of troops in one brigade. For those willing to form their own detachments in their own areas, vacancies will exist for officers, NCOs and privates in the above regiments. Vacancies also exist for the heavy and light dragoon regiments now recruiting nationwide. The massive battle of Waterloo battle re-enactment is in the not too distant future, with thousands expected from across Europe, Canada and America. Now is the time to approach the confederation with a view to taking part. Not only will the confederation take part in the battle, but will also reconstruct the two day march from Quatre Bras to the field of Waterloo, to the most vigorous of living history standards and mounted cavalry.
