I recently discovered that both Holts and Midas battlefield tours covered the Spanish civil War. However it was too late to find details of the Holts tour as the your started in May , I later found out from them that they will not run a SCW tour until the year 2000 . However , Midas battlefield tours still have places on there 1998 tour , it runs from 12-19 September and the basic cost is £ 1099 , which was a lot cheaper than the Holts version. The guest speaker is Dr Charles Esdaille from Liverpool University , and you may remember wrote the recent articles in Battlefield magazine and an article on wargaming the SCW in Military Modelling in about 1983 . The basic details of the tour are ; day 1 - Fly London to Bilbao - visit Bilbao day 2 - Guernica , Alto de Leon , Segovia . day 3 - Valley of the fallen , Toledo . day 4 - Battle of Madrid . day 5 - Jarama, Brunete . day 6 - Belchite , Teruel . day 7 - Gandesa , battle of the Ebro . day 8 - Barcelona - fly home . Of course this sounds very interesting , but if you are serious then planning your own trip may be more cost effective . There are plenty of good travel books you could use to more effect , of course used in combination with a good SCW military text book such as H . Thomas .
