Fence Sitting

by Rolfe Hedges

This is the first issue in the third year's subscription. Again, apologies for the delay. Abanderado and Bandera Miniatures will be at the following shows this year: Triples in Sheffield April 4/5 1998 and Crusade 98 in Penarth / Cardiff - Cogan leisure centre (Saturday Jan 24th).

The last issue provoked a large response - to the Comment in the review of 'NO PASARAN' that Land and Freedom was Naive! We have given a large amount of cover to the film in earlier issues, with a couple of analytical articles. I know there are quite a number of people who share this viewpoint - indeed Professor Paul Preston is one of these. However, there are just as many if not more (in my experience) that think the film is a valid and accurate portrayal of the issues involved.

Moreover, I feel that people sit on the fence or either side of it. That is what the SCW is about, and such a viewpoint generally follows your political leanings. I personally believe the film is entertaining, it provokes thought and illustrates some of the motives and conditions in the war.

To all those who didn't subscribe to year one the back issues are only now available in a bumper edition - carefully printed at £ 5.00 including P & P UK only.
