The armoured truck fell victim to a German Air Force Pilot "Dosen-max" (Tin-Max) Schuk, serving in Spain with the Condor Legion. Pilot Schuk often specialized in strafing enemy Republican columns or "Louse hunting" as he referred to it, in his HE112 aircraft nicknamed the "Can-opener" (Dosen-offner). The model depicts a prize caught on the road between Odhandiano and Durango In May 1937. The vehicle in question was based on an early single-decker Paris bus chassis, some of which were purchased by the Spanish transport authorities just after WWI. Though claimed as a 'kill' very little damage seems evident to the solidly built machine. It is more likely that the crew simply abandoned the vehicle in sheer panic. The truck was soon recovered and placed back into service by the Nationalist but not before they carried out a number of repairs and modifications. Colour was most likely a weathered grey with the steel patches and some rust showing through here and there. As for markings, from an illustration of the period, it appears that a large white 'UHP' was painted midway along the right hand side of the hull. Underneath this is the slogan "No Tirar Hermanos" - 'Do not shoot your brothers' though it may have been purely artistic license. The former sign is however supported by one photograph. The vehicle may have received a new coat of paint in Nationalist hand of Army Green or at least sported the rounder.
