BBCEfforts are still being made to encourage a British TV company to show the Granada SCW documentary series shown on Channel 4 in the early 1980's to be programmed again. The release on video has been ruled out due to the high cost and, according to Granada, the lack of interest. Channel 4 will not repeat the series because their rights expired in 1986. Granada have no plans to repeat the series on the ITV networks, although they will pass requests onto their programme planning department, I suspect this means the letters end up in the bin. One option is that of the BBC. I have written to them but as yet await a reply, so please if you have a spare 5 minutes write to them and explain that the series was excellent, it has never been repeated since its first showing and that the 60th anniversary of the war is 1996. Let's prove that interest groups work and that you as licence payers (BBC) would like to see something that you want: Write to:

One of the episodes has a prelude to WW2 and will hopefully include some footage on the SCW. News from the USAIn the USA (information from Tom Sarbaugh) there are at least 2 films on video available; these are: 1) "The Spanish Civil War" $79.95 + $8.50 p&p. The film lasts 6 hours and is probably the Granada series !!!!!!!!!!! the order reference is #6n12a. 2)"The Spanish Earth" .The classic US made documentary is also available at $29.95 + $5.50 p& p. The film is order reference #5be6a.The film has an introduction read and written by E. Hemingway. UK and Europeans must remember that the videos in the US don't work in our machines.
