Peter Carroll's book : "Odyssey of the Abraham Lincoln Brigade" has very recently been published in softback and hardback by Stanford University press (Stanford, CA.). The book is a real effort to tell the truth, warts and all, of the American volunteers involvement in Spain. Over a hundred interviews with surviving veterans were conducted along with many new sources of previously unobtainable material - principally from the former Soviet Union. Of course the usual agencies such as the A.L.B. archives at Brandeis were also religiously consulted. The book is a meticulously detailed account and well worth buying.
